Some dogs have energy… and then there are these two Australian Shepherds. Belo and Brodie took it to a whole new level during our beach photo session at Hampton Beach, NH! These two were absolutely unstoppable—racing through the waves, leaping after their ball, and splashing through the surf like they were born for it. It didn’t matter that the water was freezing; they were all in, all the time. Belo was locked onto every throw like a pro athlete, while Brodie, with those piercing blue eyes, looked like a total rockstar as he tore through the waves. I swear, they never ran out of steam. Every time we tossed the ball (or a rock, or anything else they decided was worth chasing), they bolted after it like their lives depended on it.

We shot on the quieter north end of Hampton Beach, which gave us plenty of space to play—until the tide started creeping in, stealing away our little stretch of sand. But that just added to the adventure! Watching them power through the waves, fur soaked and tongues hanging out in pure joy, was a dream to capture.

By the time we wrapped up, the winter sun was dipping a bit lower, the tide had claimed most of the sand, and Belo and Brodie? They still weren’t tired. Their humans, on the other hand, were ready to call it a day! That’s the magic of dogs, though—they remind us to live in the moment, chase joy relentlessly, and never be afraid to get a little wet. Looking through the shots later, I couldn’t help but smile. This session was everything I love about photographing dogs—pure, wild happiness frozen in time.
