A Weekend of Dog Photography Up North
Acadia National Park dog photography isn’t always sunshine and golden hour. Sometimes, it’s battling sideways rain and gusts of wind so strong, you feel like the sky itself is trying to keep you in the car. But if you ask our dogs, Winston, a.k.a Dudu (our English Cream Golden), and Ellie (our Black Lab Mix), they’d say it was perfect.
We loaded up the car, packed our gear, and pointed north for a weekend of adventure in Acadia. From the moment we pulled into the park, the storm was relentless—pouring rain, thick fog, and wind that made the trees whistle. Honestly, there were times we could barely open the car door without it slamming shut. But the dogs? Absolutely thrilled. Wet noses pressed to the windows, tails thumping, eager to get out and explore.
That’s the heart of what I love about Acadia National Park dog photography. It’s not about flawless weather or pristine conditions. It’s about the connection—the wild joy in a dog’s eyes, the way they come alive in nature, even when it’s soaked and windswept. We braved the coastlines, huddled under hoods, and captured some of the most stunning portraits I’ve ever taken—mud on their fur, paws on slick granite, mist rising behind them.
We also found magic deep in Acadia’s rain-drenched forest. The green was electric. Every fern, every mossy rock glistened. The trails were quiet except for the sound of Winston and Ellie padding through puddles, happy as ever. These moments—the honest, messy, real ones—are exactly why Acadia National Park dog photography means so much to me.
This trip reminded me that sometimes the best memories aren’t made in perfect conditions. They’re made when you embrace whatever the day brings—soaking wet jeans, fogged-up lenses, and all—and just follow your dog’s lead.
If you’ve ever dreamed of an adventure session with your pup that captures their spirit, no matter the weather, let’s talk. Whether it’s in Acadia, your favorite trail, or a quiet spot by the lake, I promise we’ll make something beautiful.
